Lameness and Performance Evaluations

Combining decades of clinical expertise with the latest diagnostic technology, we pinpoint and address issues affecting your horse’s movement and comfort. We perform a functional gait analysis by blending over 40 years of subjective experience with objective tools like Equisym by Arioneo—offering video documentation and long-term performance tracking and data-driven insights.

When treatment is indicated, we perform joint and tendon injections using accurate ultrasound guidance and appropriate therapeutic modalities tailored to each case. We also offer custom orthotic and shoeing solutions, working closely with your farrier to ensure biomechanical optimization through proper trimming and shoe design. Chiropractic assessments are integrated into our evaluations to support axial spine health and overall performance.

Advanced Diagnostic Imaging

With 40 years of ultrasound experience coupled with the latest ultrasound system, Dr. Thaler is able to provide optimal sonographic imaging of your horse, including high resolution doppler to assess inflammation, optimal probe selection for detail and archived documentation. We use high-frequency portable x-ray generators that provide detailed imaging of the back and caudal cervical spine localized with ultrasound guidance for precise targeting. For endoscopy, we have specific equipment allowing for upper airway and gastroscopy exams, even in large warmblood horses. All images are archived and easily shared with clients and referring veterinarians.
